Creative Ways to Reuse Your Old Clothes

We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with new clothes. There is always a sale going on, or you can find something at the local thrift store for dirt cheap. The problem is that people don’t realize how much they have until they run out of storage space and need to get rid of their old clothes. This blog post will discuss some clothing reuse tips and creative ways to reuse your old clothes that will save you money and make you look stylish.

Sew Together an Entire Outfit From Pieces of Old Clothes

oldIt is a great way to make clothes for yourself if you are the DIY type. If you have old, ratty t-shirts and sweatpants that look like they might be on their last leg, try making them into new pieces of clothing with this sewing trick. All you need to do is take apart your shirt or pants and cut them into the shape of a new shirt or pants. You can wear your old clothes to make shorts, skirts, dresses and more if you know how to sew!

If you are not skilled enough with sewing machines (or don’t have one), there’s another way that you can take apart your old clothes to reuse them again. With a few pins and a little bit of creativity, you can turn your old clothes into unique accessories that give any outfit an edge. You can also make bracelets from the sleeves of old shirts, which would be perfect to wear to a music festival!

Make a New Bag Out of Old Clothing and Fabric Scraps

It is a great way to upcycle old pieces of clothing that you would have otherwise thrown away. It doesn’t take too much time or effort, and it’s not as tricky as trying to make clothes from scratch with your sewing machine. You don’t even need any fancy tools to do this! All you will need are some fabric scraps, old clothing pieces, and some glue.

You can make purses from your fabric scraps by cutting the material into long strips with pinking sheers (or scissors with zig-zag edges). Once you’ve got a strip cut, knot it together to create loops of different lengths. You can then attach these strings around an old shirt or pants that you are about to throw away. You can create different patterns with the knotted lines depending on how many loops you make and where your knots fall to each other.

Once you have finished knotting, attach a purse strap (or any piece of string) onto two opposite ends so that it is long enough to fit over your shoulder. You can also sew the purse strap onto two opposite sides of the bag instead, but it’s unnecessary and doesn’t make a difference either way.
